The UAE is the world’s fourth-largest investment power.
The United Arab Emirates ranked fourth globally by total assets held by state investment institutions, continuing to strengthen its position in international financial markets.
$2.93 trillion under management.
According to the Global SWF 2026 annual report, the combined assets of UAE government investment institutions reached $2.93 trillion. Only three economic giants rank higher: the United States ($13.2 trillion), China ($8.22 trillion) and Japan ($3.84 trillion). Norway rounds out the top five with $2.27 trillion.
The UAE’s investment giants.
The country hosts a powerful ecosystem of state investors, including sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and central banking institutions.
Key players include Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) with assets of $1.18 trillion, Investment Corporation of Dubai ($429 billion), Mubadala ($358 billion), ADQ ($251 billion), Emirates Investment Authority ($116 billion), Dubai Investment Corporation ($80 billion) and Dubai Holding ($72 billion).
Abu Dhabi — the capital of global capital.
In October 2024, the UAE capital was named the world’s wealthiest city by Global SWF. Abu Dhabi concentrates sovereign funds with a combined capital of nearly $1.7 trillion, earning it the informal title of “capital of capital.”
The UAE continues to actively attract investment. In 2025, the country ranked fifth among the largest recipients of sovereign fund investments, attracting $9.9 billion, up from $7.9 billion a year earlier.
Top destinations by capital inflows include the United States ($131.8 billion), the United Kingdom ($25.8 billion), Germany ($18.8 billion) and Canada ($17.7 billion).
A global trend.
State investors continue to scale up operations amid growing financial markets. In December 2025, sovereign wealth funds surpassed $15 trillion in assets for the first time. Together with pension funds and central banks, they now manage approximately $60 trillion.
According to Global SWF forecasts, this figure could approach $80 trillion by 2030.
Capital geography.
More than one-third of state investor assets are concentrated in Asia, 26% in North America, 19% in Europe and 15% in the Middle East and North Africa.

The UAE’s high ranking in global investment indices reflects economic stability and an attractive investment climate. The presence of powerful state funds supports sustainable growth, large-scale infrastructure investment and long-term positive prospects.
